Star (10/2/2020)
The stars must stick together We will never be rid of these stars But I hope they live forever -Star, David Bowie- After months of hard training and horses getting used to their new smaller riders, it was time for a proper show. The rider's families were of course there, cheering for their siblings, sons or daughters. Nora, their dear trainer, helped them relax. After all, it was just a show and, for them, prizes shouldn't matter. We didn't expect a lot of people to enter the show, that's why we chose this as the first one: DBR Hectic Hunters. Lorenzo made a good job braiding all tails and manes, and shaving the unwanted feathers of our Gypsy cross. The riders, with their hair tucked in or in a tight bun, were wearing a show jacket of a dark green colour, representing our stable colours. Everything clean, tidy and perfect, like a hunter must be.
Erin and Abby showed in the Hunter Under Saddle Class, since Erin used to be a Dressage rider and is still working her jumping skills. Staying on the saddle and with her horse's hooves on the ground is what's best for her, at least until she feels confident. The Highland Pony mare used to be an eventer, so she's pretty versatile.
Tristan and Oro showed in the Hunter Over Poles Class. As you can see, the gelding is heavy built and isn't the most suitable for jumping. We know he can jump low obstacles, but he still needs to speed up a bit...which he doesn't like. So until he learns, he'll stick to poles and flat training sessions. Tristan can keep learning, since he also rides a proper warmblood horse.
A forward moving eventer sometimes has a hard time becoming a hunter, but Vera and Gary crushed the Hunter Over Fences Class anyways. The girl knows how to hold on for dear life, and the black gelding isn't a bad horse, just an excited one. They of course finished the round with no faults, but their style wasn't hunter-like at all.

Sunny is so cool looking! And I love that they all enjoy their work (for the most part lol). edit: I'm stupid, and didn't even see there was another page full of fun pictures! I love seeing kiddos doing hunter courses. Oro is so freaking cute, a proper learning horse it seems!

And thanks, I had fun designing her. I know, right? Kids are cute! Oro is the slowest of all our horses so he'll be fine with whoever you put on his back as long he doesn't need to run

She's for sure a promising talent. Thanks! We'll try to share a little bit more on their journeys

Dance monkey (17/2/2020)They say oh my god I see the way you shine Take your hand, my dear, and place them both in mine You know you stopped me dead when I was passing by -Dance monkey, Tones and I-
Going to in hand shows or rider less shows wasn't our main idea at all. New year, new goals they say, but those shows weren't in our plans. On the other hand, breeders need to show off their youngsters. It helps us promote our own breeding stallions and mares, and gives the yearlings their very first show record. Today we took our youngest three to the Mare & Foal In Hand Conformation Show. Luckily, they are already two years old, taking them as foals would've been a nightmare. That's what we look for in our horses: strong personalities. It doesn't mean we want bad or difficult horses, just animals capable of showing their personality, shy, sweet, spooky, we don't care. And, like we expected, the first show wasn't easy for the yearlings.
The first one in the arena was Chess. Dante practiced standing and posing with her a lot of times, he felt confident and thought she was ready. But when the young mare found herself far from the horses she knew and in a new place, she needed her handler to show her some support and affection. She looks like she's posing in the picture, but she's trying to reach Dante's hand so he pets her without moving her legs. After all, she was taught to stand still. The man sometimes gets frustrated but Chess' extremely sweet personality always wins him over.
We had one good girl today: Dani. There were no plants decorating the arena, so the red roan wasn't tempted to nibble on green stuff. Eating is like her passion, she is always trying to reach for grass or a bush to chew on. Aurora knew they were going to conquer the arena when she saw there were no plants, and she was right.
Having a spooker in the group is a challenge. We had to get the other two on the trailer before One was sure it meant no danger. Now that he's a little bigger, his spooks are different. When he was a baby, he'd just gallop away from the scary thing and then approach it slowly. Now, if the spooky thing is smaller, he'll pin his ears at it to see if he can spook the spooky thing. It isn't useful at all, but we let him be. This angry face of his was trying to threaten a cameraman.
Featuring USS Chesenka, Dante Miravelis, USS Denied Highlight, Aurora Bianchi, USS One of the Drunks and Louisa Whittaker. I hate this song so so much, but the lyrics matched the crazy scene.

All star (26/2/2020)
So much to do, so much to see So what's wrong with taking the back streets? You'll never know if you don't go You'll never shine if you don't glow -All star, Smash Mouth-
Spring refuses to leave our side, so our riders and horses keep enjoying the warm weather. Cross Country training kind of stops during the cold months, since rain and wind make it dangerous, they better take advantage of the warm weather while it lasts. We're already expecting temperature to drop next week, we have blankets ready for all horses! Anyways, this training wasn't planned. All the riders had some kind of no stirrup training session, or "that nonsense" as Paulina called it. Since Cara and Paulina had two excited horses assigned, they were excused and authorized to go on a walk around the property, so the horses still excersized. They both chatted on their way to the course, letting the horses stretch their necks in a fast walk, feeling relieved because they had stirrups to hold on gor their dear lives.
"Pst, Paulina!" Cara eyed the other girl with a smirk on her face "What about a race?". Paulina laughed and shook her head "No way, your horse is taller. And we're not allowed to do that". She isn't such a fan of the thrill of a fast gallop, unless she knows she's riding a safe horse. The crazy chimera isn't a safe horse, she's barely a riding horse. "Don't be such a coward. Our trainer isn't our mom, she can't punish us" Cara rolled her eyes and pushed her stallion into a canter "C'mon, take my time, chicken!" She told Paulina as she cantered past her and started the course.
When Goldie and Cara were finished, it was Sunny's and Paulina's turn. As expected, they ran the course slower and the girl almost eats dirt. Aurora discovered them and gave them a long talk about responsability and horse ownership. To sum it up: the horses aren't yours and I don't care if you thought they needed Cross Country training, you'll pay the vet if they get hurt in one of yours off records courses. Aurora really wanted to tell the trainer, but there's an Eventing show coming up and we can't afford to leave horses at home if they can be out competing. Since patience isn't one of her traits, next time they're found doing unauthorized stuff, they'll be kicked out.

Winds of change (2/3/2020)
The future's in the air I can feel it everywhere Blowing with the wind of change -Winds of change, Scorpions- Our team of badass girls were eager to head to the CS Eventing Days show. Training in our own Cross Country course was fine, the minimalistic covered arena was also nice for Dressage trainings. But traveling and visiting another prestigious Equestrian Center was different. They felt more confident and professional, they knew they were worth all the miles. Plus, it was like a friend's roadtrip, because they get along and enjoy each other's company. Dressage day had it ups and downs. Lou and Donna finally mastered what was troubling them: the halt. The woman felt how all the hours on the saddle paid off
On the other hand, our never flawless but lovable stallion, had fun strutting his stuff. His hind legs were everywhere in the walk, but they had worse times in the past.
Zaamena is probably the only horse we have that actually enjoys every task you propose her. Jumping is her favorite thing, but that doesn't stop her from offering a great performance is Dressage.
And finally the new boy, Goldie, still getting used to Eventing. We know he can jump and he proves it, but his flat work needs fixing, so we signed him for the Starter level for now.

You've got a friend in me (4/3/2020)
You've got a friend in me If you've got troubles, I've got 'em too There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you -You've got a friend in me, Randy Newman-
You have already seen this weird pair out and about at some shows, but we never introduced them properly. Despite the beliefs of some equestrians about the horse and the rider being like one and all the poetical stuff, Abby and Erin are like oil and water. They'll never blend perfectly. Yes, they succeed at shows and can communicate while training, but their personalities make this pair quite funny. They're like teenage friends that always argue but love each other.
"The camera is over there, silly. Don't ruin my perfect portrait" The fifteen years old girl wanted to be a model. Not any kind, though, modelling for the best equestrian brands was her dream. She considered herself a rookie influencer, with an average of 500 followers per social media platform, she was on her way. "Abby, over there! Leave my foot alone!" The photoshoot wasn't going as planned. She wanted perfectly posed pictures, if the mare didn't cooperate, her feed would be ruined.
The grullo pony really enjoyed annoying people. Usually it was a charming attitude, sometimes it was worth getting mad. She discovered her new rider lacked patience, and it made annoying her fun. Abby is an overall sweet girl, she just has these pony days where she only want to eat and be left alone. She also has a great understanding of limits. She knows when to stop doing something she was told not to do, and expects the same from other animals or people. Luckily, she made Erin understand pictures aren't always perfect and the shoot ended with a cupcake for each of them.
