New Faces, New Places
Everyone meet RW Diva Delight! She is a gorgeous chestnut splash Saddlebred mare who came into our care not that long ago. Diva was quite scared of her new environment, but was welcomed with open arms by Kathy. Unfortunately Kathy had to leave right after do fly down to Florida, but Bronwyn was happy to be a friend to a fellow foal-less mare. Wait, foals?! Yep, foals.
The mares decided to surprise the barn, just like we tried to surprise you guys! While the Laughlin twins were away, James had to call in backup from Madison to help deliver and monitor babies. Pictured above is firstborn, Birdy. To learn more about these little girls, visit Laughlin's breeding page.
Leap! Wondering what the girls visited Florida for? Belle and Kathy took two dressage/flatwork trained geldings (Pez and Jekyll) to teach them and get them used to jumps, in hopes that these two could be introduced to eventing. Apparently Pez was not happy that a jump included attack water, and flung Kathy around over this jump! Overall, the boys performed very well for being beginner jumpers.
After adjusting back to the Washington timezone, Kathy invited James out to test out Diva's abilities. They both knew how graceful horses can be due to their friesian mixes, but the way this saddlebred moved was just exquisite! Kathy finally found her heart horse, and can't wait to start trying out saddleseat with her.
Speaking of Saddlebreds..This pair showed up at our barn! This is NV Carmen with her colt, NV Picasso. Belle thought it would be fun to grow a Saddlebred army. These two came in very confidently, while checking out other dams and fillies. I think it's safe to say that Picasso will enjoy his time here growing up with fillies his age.

Poor Ember, weaning is hard for both mom and baby. Sweet girl doesn't even know what trouble in foal-form is coming towards her! edit: I don't know how pages work apparently. I love that Florida picture (I'm from Florida, I love to see sims pictures inspired by the Wellington area )! Everybody looks so good!

I love that Florida picture (I'm from Florida, I love to see sims pictures inspired by the Wellington area )! Everybody looks so good! Thank you! Ember is feeling a lot better and is having fun watching all of the foals run around. I think our Florida experience is my favorite place we've ever been to. Especially in the winter season where the horses don't get too warm. Omg I already saw this post but the pictures won't load. Diva's eyes are so pretty! And that tail wow. On the other hand let me get excited to see those painted foals playing and getting along I know right?! Everything about her is just so gorgeous, I'm glad we were able to take her. The babies are being turned out for the first time very soon, so I'll definitely snap some pictures!

Happy Valentine's Day!
The LEC staff wants to wish you all a very happy valentines day! After a hard days work, everyone went home, changed into casual, non-hay covered clothes, and came back to the gelding barn lounge for some fun music, drinks, and treats. You may be a little confused as to why James and Madison are so cozy together, so I think we'll let Maddie tell you about it..
"James texted me way before everyone was expected at the barn and told me there was something wrong with the dressage tack and he needed me over to look at it. I thought it was weird that he would call me over ASAP for tack, but I went along with it. I couldn't find him in the tack room or anywhere on the first floor, so I called him again and heard his ringer upstairs. I couldn't believe what I saw when I walked upstairs. James was standing in the feed room holding a Horze bag and box of chocolates. He asked me if I wanted to be his girlfriend, and of course I said yes. If you're wondering what was in the bag..a new pair of breeches! I'm so happy." -Maddie Hall

Babies, Big Babies, and Bigger Babies
The foals were turned out for the first time today and had so much fun! Amelia was constantly trying to chase the camera to catch attention. Kathy spent a majority of her time trying to keep Prada off of Picasso. These two have become best friends, except when Prada gets a little too rough. Little Birdy stuck close to her mama, and only ventured where her mom went.
The younger members of LEC were offered a chance to strut their stuff in a young horse show! Madison Hall entered free jumping and presentation classes with LEC La Caricia, or Bronwyn (3 years). She did marvelous over free jumps, but could have handled her presentation class a bit better, seeing as she wasn't used to being shown without a close handler. Belle decided to show her own horse, LEC Meet you in a Million (5 years), in dressage and presentation. Despite being fiery, Diablo knows how to handle himself quite well under show saddle. However, the same couldn't be said for his presentation. He got ahead of himself and decided that he would use the arena as his own personal pasture.

Heart HorseAs you know, the team has been working on getting some of our dressage horses over some fences to train them for eventing. Sometimes the best trainers need an outside perspective, which is why Madison asked Kathy to sit in on her grid session. Training Jekyll wasn't going to be easy, and we knew that. There were instances where Jeky wasn't set up right, or he just plain refused. But that's okay. We're learning, and sometimes the mistakes teach the most. Bones can break, reins can break.. But the bond these two share will never break. For he is her horse, and she is his human.
